The Down East Boys Announce Upcoming Album, ‘Something To Shout About’

Arden, North Carolina — “We are excited to share this new music,” says the Down East Boys’ Ricky Carden, as he and his colleagues announce the forthcoming release of Something to Shout About, their first full-length album for Sonlite Records since 2020’s Faithful Still — and though he doesn’t say it, that excitement builds on what’s already been generated by the Southern Gospel quartet’s release of a series of singles over recent months.

Produced and arranged by Jason Webb, Something to Shout About — now available for pre-save/add ahead of its October 11 release — is a collection that makes frequent use of expansive orchestration, lending an air of musical sophistication to the inspirational messages embodied in its 10 songs, from the bold opening notes of their latest single, “When Believers Will Be Leaving,” to the gentle close of “That’s What Heaven Holds,” with its wistful, yet certain vision of eternity:

That’s what Heaven holds for me
In the presence of Jesus
What a moment that will be
Embracing my loved ones waiting there
Freedom from all my earthly care
One in the song of praise to Him
For all eternity
That’s what heaven holds for me

Indeed, while there are plenty of spirited numbers on Something To Shout About— including the title track, the stirring “Mercy River” and “Go Tell,” with its lively invocation of Jesus’ coming — some of its most memorable moments are heard in the tender, lushly arranged Mosie Lister classic, “His Hand In Mind,” the stately ballad, “I’ll Have A New Name” and a new version of second single (and another classic), “He Looked Beyond My Fault,” that features an extended instrumental introduction to set the mood for its powerful message of redemption. Add it all up, and Something to Shout About is a set that’s sure to please old fans, and to make some new ones, too — for both its musical ministry and the artistry of the Down East Boys.

Most importantly, says Carden, “From the first note to the last, our prayer is that God will use this collection of songs to lift your spirit and draw you closer to Him.”

Exciting Changes for the Inspirationals Quartet of Texas

Nashville, TN — Changes are in the wind for the Inspirationals Quartet of Texas as they gear up for a big Fall and Winter season.

Ron Wills, Inspirationals Qt, Owner/Manager/Baritone, states, “First, I want to convey the significant contribution Ralph Green has made as a member of the Inspirationals Quartet. In 1972, Ralph started as the pianist and later became the lead singer for the group. I’ve always said and still believe today that he is one of the greatest singers in gospel music, and we were privileged to have him as part of Inspirationals. In addition to his great talent, he has a great love for the Lord and sharing his faith through his music. As we all go through changes in life this is a time of change and a new chapter for both Ralph and the Inspirationals. We look forward to what God has in store for Ralph Green’s music and ministry, as well as him joining us on some special events in the future.”

Wills continues, “The Inspirationals are very excited about the addition of Scott Brand as the new lead singer as we turn the page for the next chapter. Scott first caught our attention when he was with Gold City Quartet and then with The Perrys. He always gives a powerful and full vocal sound in every delivery of a song. He loves God and is passionate about singing for Him. We look forward to this new chapter and what the Lord has in store for us.”

Ralph Green states, “50 years with the Inspirationals Quartet. The old saying is correct, time really does fly. Some of the greatest memories of my life ties directly in with my travel and time with the Inspirationals Quartet. As far as my plans, I will serve with music as long as I have breath for it.”

“Scott Brand states, “First, I want to thank Ron Wills for the incredible opportunity he has given me! I love quartet music; I always have and always will. I look forward to seeing what God is going to do in this chapter of my life and I’m excited about being on stage with John, Ron, Don and Bryan! Hope to see all of you down the road very soon!

Les Butler, Inspirationals QT Producer and REAL Southern Label owner states, “First, I’d like to say what a privilege it was to work with Ralph Green. I’ve been blessed to work with many great singers. Ralph is at the top of the list.”

Butler continues, “Now, I get to work with yet another amazing vocalist in Scott Brand. My what a blessed man I am to work with the caliber of vocalists such as Scott, as well as the entire group. As I’ve said often of late, the Inspirationals Quartet of Texas is the next big thing!”

The quartet is finishing up their Christmas album that is slated to release in November.

Ernie Haase & Signature Sound’s Live in Memphis Celebrates Golden Era of Quartet Singing

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—Paying tribute to an American original—the quartet—GRAMMY-nominated, Dove Award-winning Gospel tastemakers Ernie Haase & Signature Sound return October 4 with Live In Memphis. The 14-song Club44 Records release, recorded at the famed Memphis Quartet Show earlier this year, boasts a distinctive selection of Broadway, Gospel, Great American Songbook, and Spiritual standards spanning more than a century.

Steeped in history while brimming with modern vitality, Live In Memphis was executive produced by Haase and produced by 40-time Dove Award-winner Wayne Haun (Celine Dion, Jason Crabb) and is hallmarked by noted guest appearances from Gospel trailblazers the Blackwood Brothers, as well as Duane Allen of the legendary Oak Ridge Boys, among others.

“We are returning to our roots with this album,” Haase shares. “In the mid-1950s, Beale Street Rhythm & Blues collided with southern Spirituals and hymns, helping bring to the forefront a genre of music that is still loved today—quartet singing. Our desire is to breathe new life into songs that not only shaped the musical identity of this country but continue to influence generations of fans around the world.”

Encapsulating the nostalgic joy imbued throughout Live In Memphis, debut single “Put On A Happy Face”—from the 1961 Tony Award-winning musical “Bye Bye Birdie”—is now available on streaming platforms. “We thrive on making people happy, even if it’s for just a few minutes out of their day,” Haase explains of the group’s musical mission. “While we will always sing positive songs that bring hope, peace, and joy, we also love the music of stage and screen and the Great American Songbook, and we enjoyed putting our own unique spin on this wonderful standard.”

Further highlights of Live In Memphis include album opener “Great Day,” an infectious jazz-infused Gospel tune from the 1929 Broadway production of the same name, and such timeless classics as “Old Man River,” “Swingin’ On The Golden Gate” and “Look For The Silver Lining.” In addition, The Oak Ridge Boys’ Duane Allen joins Ernie Haase & Signature Sound for a new rendition of The Oaks’ impassioned anthem “He Did It All For Me,” while Southern Gospel pioneers the Blackwood Brothers take a guest turn on the genre stalwart “Give The World A Smile.”

Blending seamlessly alongside the album’s century-spanning quartet classics, Live In Memphis also spotlights two contributions from Ernie Haase & Signature Sound’s own renowned repertoire. Haase co-penned “He Made A Change,” featuring Legacy Five’s Scott Fowler and former Signature Sound member Paul Harkey, as well as “You’ll Find Him There,” the latter of which was inspired by the 2005 motion picture The Nativity Story and is set to be the album’s debut single at Gospel radio formats.
