VETERAN BASS VOCALIST JOINS GOLD CITY

Gold City is pleased to announce that Jeff Chapman will be the quartet’s new bass vocalist. Jeff comes to the group after having served as bass for The Kingdom Heirs since 2002. He joins baritone Danny Riley, lead Bruce Taliaferro, and tenor Chris Jenkins to make up the current line-up of this award-winning quartet. With pianist Terry Wooten, sound and road manager Dillan West, and driver Russell Wise rounding out the team, this quartet’s mission to encourage the saved and reveal Jesus to the lost continues into it’s 43rd year.
Danny Riley says, “I couldn’t in my wildest dreams have imagined that we’d be welcoming Jeff to our group, but we are—and we are beyond excited! Jeff is one of the greatest bass voices of the current musical generation.
“Even more importantly, he is a man of God who has prayed over this decision for weeks. We appreciate that about him. I want you to know we are planning to have a great time on stage singing and working for the Lord with this man who can forevermore sing bass.
“I look at the men on the Gold City bus and just have to thank God for how he’s always been so faithful to this group. I’m a blessed man.”
Jeff has long been both a fan and student of Gold City’s legendary Hall of Fame bass vocalist Tim Riley. Prior to his tenure with The Kingdom Heirs at Dollywood, Jeff spent time with both The Blackwoods and The Anchormen. He is greatly respected by fans and industry peers alike, and comes to Gold City much to the delight of so many who have liked what they heard when Jeff filled in for the group on a few prior occasions.
Danny says, “The times we’ve sang with Jeff, it’s almost scary how much he sounds like my dad. It’s been just an incredible experience already and he’s just starting. We have much to thank God for and for which to be excited.”
“Shortly after I found out there was a opening with Gold City, I began praying about a bass singer for them. Then I realized that this is where God was leading me,” Jeff says. “Gold City is my all-time favorite group and Tim Riley is an earthly hero of mine. I have always wanted to sing with this group, and I’m grateful and excited about the opportunity. I know that God has worked out all of the details for me to be here at this moment in time.
“Those who have read my bio when I was with The Kingdom Heirs know that my favorite group, singer, album and song all come from Gold City. So needless to say, this is truly a great moment for me, one I don’t take lightly. I’m looking forward to getting out to all the places Gold City is loved and meeting their fans.
“As happy as I am to be coming to Gold City, I will greatly miss my Kingdom Heirs brothers. And when I say ‘brothers,’ I mean it. We’re a family there, so this has been a hard decision to make because of them. But I will always be their biggest supporter, and I hope they have many more years of making great music at Dollywood.”
Jeff’s first official concert with Gold City will be April 20, 2023.
Gold City is booked exclusively by the Dominion Agency.

2nd Chance Ministries Announces Departure of Gray Kimble

Nashville, TN (March 17, 2023) – 2nd Chance Ministries have announced the departure of tenor singer, Gray Kimble.

Gray Kimble joined the group two years ago and has been the perfect addition, both musically and personally to co-members Ricky Malloy and Brandon Gainey.

Kimble’s love for the church and music began at a young age and is still strong today. In addition to singing, Kimble plays the piano, keyboard, drums, organ, and bass. Although it is tough to step away from the group, he is sensing the Lord calling him to rest, spend more time with family, and turn his attention toward his other passions at this time.

On leaving, Gray Kimble said, “I love this ministry and this group. They are some of the best friends in the whole world and being able to minister beside them has been such an amazing journey.”

Lead singer and manager of 2nd Chance Ministries, Ricky Malloy, added, “Not everything that comes is a storm. We love and appreciate Gray and all of the sacrifices he has made, and he remains our friend beyond ministry. We were blessed to have him. I pray that when we’re close by and he’s not busy, he’ll stop by and sing one with us.”

All members have voiced their commitment to continue to pray for one another as they step into this new era.

2nd Chance Ministries is now accepting applications from qualified tenor singers interested in joining the trio. Submissions, including a resume, photo, and vocal demo, can be sent to Donald Deaver at 2ndchmin@gmail.com.

The Sharps Welcome New Member David Holt

The Sharps, in conjunction with Godsey Media Management, are excited to announce

the addition of their newest member, David Holt. The quartet is owned by father and son

Andy & Ben Sharp, who sing tenor and baritone respectively. They are joined by lead

singer Mike Leath, bass vocalist Tony Lewis, and now newest member and pianist

David Holt.

Holt is no stranger to gospel music. He was a founding member of the gospel trio,

Renewed, that was based off of Sand Mountain in the 90s. But since that group’s

retirement several years ago, he has prayed for an opportunity to return to traveling.

David will be the group’s pianist as well as an additional vocalist that will be featured on

occasion.

The Sharps just had their 8th consecutive single with Jan Puryear Promotions, “Worth It

All”, chart on February SN Top 80. They average eighty to one hundred performances

annually and have released four major albums since 2014, with a fifth on the way.

Recently, the quartet has been featured in events such as National Quartet Convention,

Dollywood, Alabama Gospel Roots TV, PBS Television Network, The Gospel Greats,

Gospel Music Today, Singing News, Atlanta Live, and Ascending Sounds TV.

Andy Sharp states, “I’ve dedicated almost forty years of my life to this ministry and its

mission. And at this point in my journey, I am excited at the doors God has closed and

opened for us. I look forward to our followers who are familiar with us in the past 4

decades to hear and be a part of this next chapter.”

Ben Sharp added, “God is using our group in a mighty way, and He has placed the

exact people we need for this particular time in and around our ministry. I know God has

great things in store for our obedience.”

On joining the group, David Holt said, “I’m thankful for Ben and the guys giving me this

opportunity to share the music I love. I’ve really enjoyed getting back on the road and

experiencing the movement of the Holy Spirit as we minister to people. God is still

leading and my place in the group is evolving each week.”

The Old Paths Announce New Name

Nashville, TN (March 15th, 2023) – In a video release late last year, the award-winning group, The Old Paths, announced the intention of rebranding the group with a new name.  It is with great excitement that the quartet presents its new name: Anthem Edition.

While the name Old Paths served the group well for several years, the ever-increasing popularity of social media has allowed other organizations to lay claim to the term, making it increasingly more difficult to differentiate the acclaimed musical group and the powerful message of Christ’s love and grace found within their music. The rebranding as Anthem Edition will allow these four gentlemen to continue forward with the mission entrusted to them, producing lyrically rich, dynamic music with powerful Biblical truths to reach the lost and encourage the believers.

Along with a new name, Anthem Edition has launched a new website, which can be found at anthemedition.com.  In the coming months, listeners can expect to see the name transition across social media platforms, publicity outlets, concert events, and more.

“Any kind of change requires great faith, and we are aware that this is a big change for so many people,” shares Anthem Edition. “However, we have felt strongly for quite some time that this change was necessary, and will be extremely beneficial in the long term.  We are grateful for the support we’ve received thus far, and trust that that support, as well as excitement will continue! This transition into becoming Anthem Edition is very exciting for us as a group, and feels like the exact right step into what God has prepared for us moving forward!”

To stay up-to-date on current happenings, follow Anthem Edition on social media, or visit anthemedition.com.

Esteemed Songwriter Dave Clark Celebrates Five Decades of No. 1 Songs

A veritable who’s who of the Christian music industry gathered at BMI Nashville to celebrate the storied career of revered and multi-award winning songwriter Dave Clark. The reason for the celebration was Dave’s remarkable achievement, recently garnering another chart-topping song—“Child of the King,” recorded by Joseph Habedank—marking his 28th No. 1 across five decades in the CCM, Inspirational and Southern Gospel genres.

Beginning in 1987 with the Larnelle Harris hit “The Father Hath Provided,” Clark achieved unparalleled success throughout the 1990s and 2000s with hits from 4Him, Sandy Patti, Phillips Craig & Dean, Mark Harris, Karen Peck & New River, Greg Long and more. Showing no signs of slowing down, he continues to churn out popular songs. Larnelle, who is a close longtime friend of Dave’s, shared, “Kenaniah, a Levite leader in the Old Testament, was put in charge of music simply because he was good at it. Dave Clark has had five consecutive decades of number one songs on the national charts, because when it comes to songwriting, he’s just good at it.”

Daywind Music Publishing Vice President Rick Shelton was on hand to present Dave with a plaque for his most recent No. 1. “From the first song I heard in the 80s to his current number one and all the hits in between, Dave Clark has painted stories with powerful lyrics that have touched generations. His songs declare God and His love and bring hope, comfort, encouragement and joy to the hearts of all His children. Congratulations, Dave, for five decades of number one hits! I look forward to hearing what you create in the sixth decade,” stated Shelton.

President and Executive Director of the Gospel Music Association Jackie Patillo was in attendance to present Dave with a certificate of achievement from the GMA. Jackie expressed her appreciation for Dave, “The Bible talks about giving us a new song. It’s the power of God in the message that is healing people, inspiring the church and drawing people to Christ. Thank you for all that you do to spread the gospel through music and for your faithfulness to teach and to inspire and pass the torch along. It’s an amazing thing. As the president of the Gospel Music Association, on behalf of our board of directors and all of our members, congratulations on five decades of excellence in gospel music.”

Known among friends for his keen sense of humor and genuine kindness, Dave is always ready to open a door and usher others into the limelight. He has been the catalyst for innumerable successful songwriting and publishing careers through the years. He has the heart of a teacher. That heart, coupled with his ability to tell the stories of those he writes with and about, is what makes him the kind of writer the next generation of tunesmiths hopes to glean from and emulate. Some of those young songwriters, including Emily Ann Roberts and Gabrielle Rose Lovelace, were also in attendance to express their gratitude for his impact on their lives.

Dave’s wife Cindi and their three adult children, Allison, Anna and Sam, were by his side at the event – they are truly his greatest fans. Everyone in attendance was delighted to honor Dave. Overwhelmed by the love and support of those who came to celebrate him, Dave shared, “I know that, for some, to leave home at 17 with no money and a bad car would seem like a pretty big limb to jump off of, and yet for me the greater risk was always if I had stayed. Make no mistake, if it weren’t for a call, we wouldn’t be standing here. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate something like this than in a roomful of people who have written a story. I’ve been overwhelmed today. Yes, we celebrate the decades, but I’m a guy who’s always measured the journey by the moments, and all the moments are in this room. Everybody in this room represents a different season of what God has let us do all these years. There’s so many memories, so many stories. There’s a line in a Larry Gatlin song that says, ‘I’m just standing here trying to matter.’ By your presence here today, I feel like I do. Thank you.”

The Christian music industry is blessed to have benefited in so many ways from the selfless contributions of this great man.

About Dave Clark
Multi-Dove award winning songwriter and Grammy-nominated producer, Dave Clark, began his journey in the music industry at age 17. With a 1974 Martin guitar and a whole lot of determination, Dave made his way from his hometown of Jackson, MI, to Nashville, TN, in pursuit of his dream of becoming a songwriter. That decisive move laid the foundation for his distinctive career as a songwriter, producer and author. His credits include songs recorded by Rascal Flatts, Larnelle Harris, Glen Campbell, CeCe Winans, Sandi Patty, Steve Green, 4HIM, Point of Grace, Al Denson, Phillips Craig & Dean, Donny Osmond, Michael Crawford, The Martins, and many others. He is the producer of numerous records, including two Grammy-nominated projects for J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet. He is the  author of Worship Where You’re Planted and Living in the Power of My Weakness from Beacon Hill Press and has written more than 50 Christmas and Easter musicals. Dave currently serves as the Creative Director for Lillenas Publishing and is still, in his words, “chasing the song.”
